Pharmacological Action:
The erection-enhancing component Tadalafil is a type of PDE5 inhibitor. PDE5 inhibitors are a class of drug abbreviations, also known as type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitors. Currently, the Western medications approved by the US FDA and China's NMPA for treating male ED (Erectile Dysfunction) include: Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra), and Avanafil (Stendra). These drugs significantly improve blood supply to the corpus cavernosum, enhance penile erection, and make sexual intercourse more lasting and satisfactory.
PDE5 is an enzyme widely distributed in the corpus cavernosum tissue. This enzyme inhibits blood filling in the corpus cavernosum, leading to inability to achieve an erection or weak erections, commonly known as impotence. Tadalafil contains cGMP, which effectively inhibits PDE5, allowing the corpus cavernosum to fully relax and fill with blood, thereby achieving a full erection.
